GLASS ANIMALS

I'm saying it now, so there's a written record of my prediction: This band is going to blow up big. Pop enough to win over radio and quirky enough to stay cool, there is enough potential here to make me burst from happiness. Be thankful Dave Bayley gave up a potential career in medicine to pursue his artist talents. Although if it wasn't for university, he may never have started experimenting in the first place. He's a musical genius. Hailing from Oxford, England, Glass Animals even has that English charm going for them. Bet you can't listen to just one song...

One of the best covers I've ever heard. Chills. Kanye who?

BROODS

Last week, thanks to my friends in Max and the Moon, I snagged a ticket to Broods' sold out show at The Independent. Having only listened to a couple songs, I wasn't sure what to expect, but they instantly won me over. That's not always so easy! I admit, I'm a music snob. There's this special feeling I get, like butterflies on a first date, the first time I hear a truly talented artist perform live. The ones that will always be on my calendar when they're in town. With beautiful, "brooding" music, this brother-sister team has crazy talent and manage to stay fresh in the overcrowded electro-pop genre. Their songs hook with a danceable beat, but also connect with the heart. New Zealand, thanks for letting us import your talent!

*Bonus* Remix (because this song is too addicting):

JAMES SUPERCAVE

I first heard James Supercave as an opener at the Troubadour last year and was immediately intrigued. Amidst all the new music at our fingertips, it is crazy hard to stand out. We want to hear something new and fresh. But this band has the special factor and continues to impress me and draw me in each time I see them. It's the best feeling when a band leaves you wanting more, and with only a few leaked demos, they're in perfect position to play the tease. Good news though as they are set to release an official album on Hit City USA at the end of this month, March 25th. The anticipation is almost over!

Go see them at The Echo during one of their Monday residency nights this month, because who knows when you will have this free opportunity again! I predict there are big things coming for this LA based band.
